News Round Up - October

Richard Hammond, Top Gear presenter turned children’s television star, has been nominated for a Children’s BAFTA for the second year running. His science show ‘Blast Lab’ scooped the Presenter award at the 2009 EA British Academy Children’s Award last year, and was voted for by young viewers themselves. The awards will take place on November 28th in London.
Levi Roots has also been up for an award, or two! The Jamaican born businessman and inventor of the hugely successful ‘Reggae-Reggae Sauce’, was nominated in two categories for his ‘Reggae Reggae Chilled Caribbean Ready Meals’, and scooped the award for ‘Best Packaging’ at this year’s World Food Awards.
Both Heston Blumenthal and Jamie Oliver are planning to open new restaurants in the South of England. Heston, famous for his extraordinarily original cuisine, will open his new restaurant in London in December. The restaurant will boast magnificent views over London and a menu developed with the help of food historians, which will feature modern takes on recipes that date back as far as the 16th century.
Lovable Essex boy Jamie Oliver is also set to open a new diner early in November. True to form, Oliver is intent on keeping his food as fresh and wholesome as possible; ‘Barbecoa’, a meat focused restaurant, even comes with its own butchers. An enthusiastic Jamie commented: "The concept is modern, accessible, robust food, cooked largely over fire. It's a chef’s dream, with hardly any gas or electricity. We'll even be making toast over a flame – and you'll see the difference!”
James Caan is to become an honorary Doctor of Business Administration at York St. John University, in honour of his entrepreneurial talent and his commitments to educational and developmental charity programmes. He set up The James Caan Foundation in 2006, a charity to assist the education of some of the 6 million children in Pakistan.

Michelle Mone OBE, the founder and co-owner of MJM International, a multi-million pound lingerie company, has revealed that she is going to take part in a charity fashion show, appearing alongside Celtic football players, to raise money for Breast Cancer Care. Michelle got to know the squad when she trained with them for the reality television show ’71 Degrees North’. She commented, ‘I'm a bit nervous but will teach the Celtic boys to strut their stuff just like our Ultimo girls.'
